Imagine if you could play Celtic Fiddle with increased confidence. In this 6 week course, we cover techniques to help you develop the skills of playing Celtic fiddle tunes by ear. The 6 week course includes instructional videos, tunes to apply the techniques, three Q&A sessions, reviews and replays. Students can attend in their own time, and Q&A sessions are recorded. An introductory course for those new to the violin and have been playing, or for those who want to learn how to ‘play by ear’ instead of from sheet music. Classes are run online in small groups where students take turns at using their own violin. The technique lessons include variable speed tune recordings to get you match fit to join in a live Celtic music session with other Celtic musicians. This course is delivered via an online streaming platform and Zoom (or similar).    Don’t worry if you don’t think you have the skills; you can switch over to our free Absolute Beginners course to learn the basics (runs at the start of each term) and you can rejoin the Beginners class when you are ready. ** The Beginners course is a 6 week course which introduces students to playing Celtic fiddle by ear.  Over the six weeks, students learn four play-by-ear techniques and apply these techniques to learning 12 slow to medium paced tunes which have been chosen to suit students new to playing Celtic fiddle.  The tunes are also a source of music with which students can join in a Celtic music session. During weeks 2, 4, & 6, in addition to the video classes, students can join in a ‘live’ Q&A session focussed on that two week period.  Students can ask questions and receive feedback on their playing technique, if time permits. During weeks 5 & 6, there will be a review of the four ‘play by ear’ techniques plus the final ‘live’ Q&A session in week 6. The ‘live’ Q&A sessions also provide a chance for everyone to play together as if they were in a ‘live’ Celtic music session.
